Celebrating International Jazz Day & Japanese Heritage: Traditional Japanese & Jazz Music

"A combination of traditional music from Japan fused with jazz elements of John Coltrane, Art Blakey, Miles Davis and other jazz luminaries".

Celebrating the great cultures of America & Japan through music, while taking a stance on anti-Asian bias in America and everywhere.

Mami Itasaka Keister: Instructor at the University of Colorado Boulder. Trained in classical Japanese dance (kabuki nihon buyo) of the renowned Bando school, her stage name is Miko Bando and she teaches Japanese dance out of her Boulder home. Jay Keister: Associate Professor of Ethnomusicology at the University of Colorado Boulder. He has studied traditional Japanese music in Tokyo, Japan, specializing in music for kabuki (nagauta) and folk music (minyo). Stafford Hunter: Multi-Grammy nominated trombonist & seashells player (and sometimes vocalist) Has performed and/or record with Clark Terry, McCoy Tyner, Roy Hargrove, Amy Winehouse, Toshiko Akiyoshi, Lenny Kravitz, Oliver Lake, Orrin Evans' Captain Black big band, Steve Turre & Sanctified Shells, and a 21 years member of the Duke Ellington Orchestra, (and more...).

Also, has performed at President Bill Clinton's inaugural, modeled for L'Uomo Vogue (the Italian Vogue magazine for men), appeared in a diet Coke television commercial which featured the great Elton John, etc... Stafford has 5 CD's as a leader to date:https://www.staffordhunter.com

Eric Natsuhiro Jordan was born in Shizuoka, Japan but raised in Beaverton, Oregon. Attended Indiana University Bloomington for his Bachelor's of Music, and studied with David Baker. Earned his Master's degree from University of Northern Colorado in Greeley. Currently a regular member of Jon Romero Y Amanecer, Denver Jazz Orchestra and the Pamlico Sound.
